NEW INDIAN RESTAURANT
BABUJEE, DUNDEE

Babujee - the newest Indian restaurant in Dundee - opened its doors on Perth Road in December 2023.
The restaurant was named after a term that emphasises a deep respect for one’s father, and the menu has been designed to showcase the culinary heritage of Eastern Pakistan.
Babujee describes itself as an authentic tawa and balti restaurant, and the menu on offer is, frankly, enormous, with 26 starters (mostly from the Subcontinent) available before even getting to mains.
For the main course, there are options available that you would expect such as tandoori dishes and 'Old School Favourites' (see: Bhuna / Madras / Dupiaza etc.), through to Chef's Recommendations (e.g. Railway Lamb Curry), House Specialities (e.g. Hawabi Garam Masala), Seafood Grills (e.g. marinated grilled seabass), and even Desi signature dishes served on the bone (e.g. White Lamb Karahi cooked in whole spices, yoghurt, black pepper and cream garnished with green chilli and coriander).
There are even almost 20 separate vegan and vegetarian dishes to choose from. And as if this wasn't enough, Babujee even cater to diners who want nothing to do with curries, serving an entire separate menu of steaks, salads, and peri peri dishes.
Owner Nasir Hussain brings a huge amount of experience to the new Dundee restaurant, (which is located on the site of what used to be the Underworld Cafe), having previously managed popular restaurants such as the Goa Indian in Broughty Ferry - and the new head chef has relocated North having run kitchens in curry houses in Bradford - hence the 'Bradford Specials' highlighted on the menu.
