NEW INDIAN RESTAURANT
DOSA DARLINGS, OXFORD

Dosa Darlings - the newest Indian restaurant in Oxford - opened its doors in February 2024 on the vibrant Cowley Road having undergone a four month refurb.
As suggested by its name, dosas feature prominently on Dosa Darlings’ menu. Dosa are a famous South Indian savoury crepe made from lentils and ground rice, and there are a whole variety on offer including Date & Almond, and Blue Cheese & Fig.
The wider menu also features a selection of South Indian curries along with Barbeque options and even a ‘Biryani of the Day’ - and the team in the kitchen also recommend you start with their Keralan small plates, such as the Mutton Roll, Podi Idly, or Beef Chukka.
Dosa Darlings is owned by restauranteur Michael Raphel, who owns nine other restaurants, though this is a new concept for him and the team. Speaking to Ox in a Box, Raphel said “We have to give Cowley Road what it wants and I don’t think a Bhoomi Kitchen would have worked here. People want something new, fun and exciting – it needs the novelty factor – but done well, and that’s what we’ve tried to do here.”
The restaurant itself is split into three areas. A bar serving chai and snacks in the day and cocktails & little plates in the evenings, a main dining area, and a heated covered terrace complete with palm trees and fire pyramids.
